HEX vs RGB vs HSL: which code do you need?

Tips for accurate color picks
The picker reads the literal pixel you click, so aim for a flat, even area of the color you want. On JPG photos, neighboring pixels vary slightly because of compression — if the value flickers between clicks, sample the middle of a solid region rather than an edge or a gradient. For transparent PNGs, the picker also reports the alpha (transparency) value of the pixel. And remember: the color is sampled from your uploaded file as-is, so edits like filters change the values you get — pick before you filter, or after, but be consistent.
